RAIPUR: The
Chhattisgarh assembly secretariat is making elaborate arrangements such as Covid-19 test of all legislators, glass partitions inside the house, allowing only minimum security and other staff and keeping visitors and press gallery closed in an effort to prevent spread of coronavirus infection during the upcoming monsoon session beginning from August 25.
The monsoon session, scheduled to be held till August 28, will have four sittings. On the first day, the house will adjourn for the day after paying homage to former chief minister Ajit Jogi, who was a sitting member of the house, former minister Dheruprasad Dhritlahare, former minister of undivided Madhya Pradesh Balihar Singh, former member of Parliament Rajnigandha Devi and soldiers of Indian Army soldiers, who were martyred in a clash with Chinese soldiers along the Sino-India border.
The legislators have been advised to reach Raipur on August 23 for Covid-19 test for which arrangements are being made. Police personnel will continue to stay in the assembly premises. Arrangements for their food and accommodation are being made.
At the assembly press advisory committee meet, speaker Dr
Charandas Mahant
said that 11 additional chairs would be provided inside the house for the purpose of maintaining social distancing during the session.
Besides, glass partitions are being installed between the seats of all legislators. Security personnel of ministers, parliamentary secretaries and government officers would not be allowed inside the assembly premises. Only one staff member of the minister would be allowed entry into the premises but not in the main block building. Press gallery will remain closed.
Body temperature and Oxygen levels of all the legislators would be monitored on a daily basis while house and the premises would be fumigated and sanitized before the sessions. Anti-bacterial surface coating is being carried out in the main building and main conference hall to check the possibility of spread of the infection.
The speaker said all those visiting the assembly premises, including legislators, officers and others, have been advised to strictly maintain social-distancing and use hand- sanitisers.
During the session, the Bhupesh Baghel government will bring for consideration the first supplementary demands for fiscal 2020-21. Opposition parties have moved notices for four adjournment motions.
