Drunkard kills infant daughter in Ambikapur

RAIPUR: A drunkard man was arrested after he allegedly attacked his daughter with a hammer, causing her death, late on Tuesday at Manipur region in Ambikapur.
The one and a half year old girl wanted him to carry her on his lap after he was back home from work and this enraged the man. Police said that the 25-year-old Suraj Sahu is a habitual drunkard and returned home in inebriated condition everyday.
While it's basic nature of infants who often get excited to see father return home after hours and expect them to be held in arms, but this act irritated Sahu.
The incident took place when the little girl was sitting with her grandmother on the roof top, where construction work was going on.
Sahu came home after work and to check the ongoing construction work, he went to terrace. But before he could monitor the work, his daughter came running towards him, miffed with distraction, he took the hammer lying on floor and hit on the girl's head in front of labourers.
Leaving his daughter in the pool of blood Sahu rushed back and locked himself in the room. Bleeding profusely, girl was rushed to hospital by labourers and grandmother where she succumbed to injuries.
While girl's mother went in shock and was unable to react to the situation, Sahu started acting like insane and abnormal to mislead police, after arrest.
Police said that Sahu had earlier also went violent when he had hurt himself too.
