Chhattisgarh’s Sainik School wins five medals at national games

Sainik School Ambikapur cadets shone at the All India Sainik Schools National Games, securing five medals, including three golds, and finishing fourth nationally. Cadet Ankit Kumar set a new record with a gold in the 400m race, while Cadet Lisa Diwan bagged two golds in the 200m sprint and relay.

RAIPUR: A team of nine cadets from Sainik School Ambikapur delivered a stellar performance at the All India Sainik Schools National Games (AISSNG) 2025–26, securing five medals, including three golds. The games were held at Sainik School Rewa in Madhya Pradesh. The school finished fourth nationally, bringing honours to Chhattisgarh. Leading the tally, Cadet Ankit Kumar clinched a gold medal in the 400-metre race, completing the event in 52 seconds. He also broke his previous record in the event. Principal Colonel Reema Sobti announced a special cash award of Rs 2,100 for Cadet Ankit in recognition of his performance. Cadet Lisa Diwan won two gold medals. She secured the top spot in the 200-metre sprint and was part of the winning team in the 4×100 metre relay. The relay team included Cadets Jonesy Kerketa, P. Angel, and Prachi Dhanwar. The team’s success continued with two bronze medals. Cadet Vinita Gabel earned a bronze in the 1,500-metre race, and Cadet Agnisha Kumari secured a bronze in the 400-metre event. Principal Colonel Sobti congratulated the cadets in a special assembly, praising their achievements. The school, which previously produced national champion Animesh Kujur, has added another milestone to its legacy with this performance.
