government has announced a subsidy of Rs 1.65 crore on vernacularChhattisgarhi
films being made in the state up to Rs 5 crore and 25 % subsidy for films made in Hindi or other languages. The notification of Chhattisgarh Film Policy 2021 by the state government has been welcomed by local artists.As per government officials, after the implementation of the new film policy, the art culture of Chhattisgarh will get a wider audience. With the new policy in place, local artists will get employment and their income will increase as well. This will benefit the locals, including thousands of artists, technicians and producer-directors associated with the film industry.Rs 50 lakh will be given on production of series. If the shooting of the film is more than 75 % for the web platform in Chhattisgarh, then it will be provided a subsidy of Rs 1 crore. Under the new policy, an assistance of Rs 25 lakh will be given by the government to the artists and technicians of the state in film production. As per officials of the culture department, with the implementation of new film policy, producers-directors from southern states as well as those from Bollywood will be attracted towards Chhattisgarh. There are many such spots in Chhattisgarh, where films of every level can be shot. If producers-directors of other states come to Chhattisgarh, then locals will get employment, as well as a new identity for the state from the point of view of tourism will be established.Officials believe that the scope of operating cinema halls will be promoted under the film policy. Subsidy amount of Rs 15 lakh will be given to those opening single-screen cinema halls and up to Rs 50 lakh for multiplexes. The government will also give Rs 10 lakh for repair and renovation of any closed cinema hall.There is also a proposal to create a film city. It will be built inNaya Raipur
on 200 acres of land on the lines of Hyderabad’s Ramoji Film City. Facilities from studio to shooting, mixing-dubbing and editing facilities will be provided as well.According to sources, the new film policy of Chhattisgarh has been made after studying the policy of five states: Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Jharkhand.State’s planning and culture ministerAmarjeet Bhagat
said that the new film policy will boost the morale of local artists and expand the scope of commercial cinema for the films of Chhattisgarh. Every year, around 12 Chhattisgarhi films are made in the state, but due to lack of theaters in villages, they do not get the audience.
