Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha session from December 19

RAIPUR: The first session of the newly elected Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha will commence on December 19.

The newly elected members of the 90-member house will take the oath on the first day of the sixth Vidhan Sabha, during which the new speaker will be elected by the members. Pro-tem speaker Ram Vichar Netam will administer the oath to the newly elected members.

The session will consist of three sittings, said a press release issued by Vidhan Sabha Secretary Dinesh Sharma.

Governor Biswa Bhushan Harichandan will deliver his customary address to the house on December 20, during which he may highlight the policies and programs of the new government led by Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai. Later, the house will adjourn for the day after moving the motion of thanks to the Governor's address.

The house will initiate the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address on December 23. There are also indications that the new government could present supplementary demands for the current fiscal during the session.
