RAIPUR: Mumbai police on Tuesday have arrested Faizan Khan of Chhattisgarh capital in a case related to threat and extortion call against Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, made early in Nov.

Raipur SSP Santosh Singh told TOI, “Mumbai police have arrested Faizan Khan in a case of threat to Shahrukh Khan and is being produced in Raipur court. He will be taken on remand to be transported to Mumbai around 6 pm via train.”

Faizan’s advocate, Virat Verma told TOI that he was preparing a legal defence document and Faizan was being produced in Raipur court.


“Faizan had been getting threat calls of dire consequences for past few days and despite that we had lodged a complaint, police took no action. There’s a lot more in the case, which I will reveal in sometime,” advocate Verma said.


A team of Mumbai police was in Raipur on Nov 7 to summon the 42-year-old man Faizan Khan who also is an advocate, to Bandra police station.

Faizan had lodged a complaint at Khamardih police station on Nov 2 for his stolen or missing mobile phone and the threat call was made on Nov 5, hence, police had not verified the identity of the caller.


Following the investigation, Mumbai police found some concrete details about Faizan’s involvement in the threat call case, he was arrested today morning.

Bandra police in Mumbai had received a threat call on Nov 5, three days after Faizan allegedly lost his phone, from an unknown caller, who threatened dire consequences to Shahrukh Khan and demanded an extortion money of Rs 50 lakh.


Bandra police lodged an FIR under Sections of extortion involving threats of death and serious injury and criminal intimidation and had launched an investigation into it, when they found the call traces in Chhattisgarh and a team arrived Raipur on Thursday.
