Chhattisgarh high court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha advocates tech-savvy and managerial skills for judges
RAIPUR: Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha of the Chhattisgarh high court expressed that judges should develop good managerial skills and become technologically adept during the five-day training programme at the Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy. The programme was designed for 50 judicial officers from Bangladesh and took place at the Academy in Bilaspur.
Chief Justice Sinha delivered a lecture on the topic "Court management and the use of technology in Judiciary." He emphasized that the judiciary's primary function is to hear and resolve cases fairly and promptly at a reasonable cost. He underscored the necessity for judges to cultivate strong managerial skills for efficient court management.
Additionally, he highlighted the significance of employing technology in the judiciary, emphasizing the growing need to focus on information and communications development.
The Chief Justice discussed the technological tools utilized by Indian courts and shared the live streaming process at the Chhattisgarh high court. He expressed that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will play a crucial role in managing the judicial system and the legal field in the future. It is anticipated to be a significant factor in the evolution of the judicial systems worldwide, contributing to strengthening public trust in the judiciary.
"We can share not only the best practices in deciding cases but also the use of technology," he remarked.
This training holds historical importance as it marks the first time that the State Judicial Academy is conducting cross-border training for judicial officers. The program aimed to enhance the professional capabilities of judges, featuring lectures from various legal experts during the sessions.
Senior counsel of the high court of Chhattisgarh, Dr Nirmal Shukla, and Fauzia Mirza delivered lectures, along with addresses from Amrito Das and Naushina Ali. Law faculty from Hidayatulla National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, Anindya Tiwari, and Ayush Gondale from Raipur also provided insights during the training. Additional sessions were conducted by Additional PCCF Arun Pandey, Retired Registrar General Ashok Panda, and state judicial officers K.L. Charyani and Pankaj Sharma.
The Academy's Director, Sushma Sawant, and Additional Director Garima Sharma conducted sessions, while Justice Sanjay K Agrawal played a pivotal role in organizing and guiding the training. Justice Agrawal also conducted sessions on "Parameters of Criminal Appeals" and 'Parameters of Civil Appeals." Academy member Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey delivered a lecture on Provisions of Bail.
According to the Bangladeshi judicial officers, these sessions were highly useful and informative.
