State govt to recruit MA graduates in Chhattisgarhi for teaching jobs

Raipur: Chhattisgarh govt, for the first time, announced in the Assembly on Friday to provide opportunities to those who have completed their MA in Chhattisgarhi when the recruitment of 33,000 teachers will begin.
The issue of education in Chhattisgarhi was raised during the question hour of the Assembly on Friday by Congress MLA Kunwar Nishad. The Congress MLA said that in every state, education is conducted according to its language. Many youths in the states are qualified in Chhattisgarhi language and they should be given teaching jobs.
In response, school education minister Agrawal said that Kunwar Singh Nishad is only talking about Chhattisgarhi. “Our government is preparing for education in Surgujia, Gondi, and all other dialects. Efforts are being made to include them in recruitment,” the minister said, adding that recruitments will also be made for those who have completed their MA in Chhattisgarhi.
Minister Agrawal said, “We want the children of Chhattisgarh to progress. We need to prepare them for the national-level competitive examination. Only Chhattisgarhi is not the solution to this issue. I agree with MLA Nishad that Chhattisgarhi should be there in the curriculum, but at the same time, our children need modern education.” Taking a jibe at Swami Atmanand School introduced by Congress government, Brijmohan asked, “Why hasn’t Atmanand School been made in Chhattisgarhi? Why have English schools been opened? Finally, what is the need? Sentiment is one thing, but making the future of Chhattisgarh’s children, involving them in national-level competition, is another thing.”
BJP MLA Ajay Chandrakar said that until Chhattisgarhi is included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution, it will not be recognized in other states. “We should all come together and try to include it in the 8th schedule,” he said.
Congress MLA and ex-CM Bhupesh Baghel also chimed in and said that many students have obtained a degree in Chhattisgarhi. In such a situation, those people should also be given opportunities in schools. “You are recruiting 33,000 teachers, which is fine, but those who have obtained a master’s degree in Chhattisgarhi should also be given opportunities,” Baghel said.
In the academic calendar 2020-21, bilingual content has been included in the primary-level textbooks, and 25% of the content in Hindi language textbooks from classes 3 to 5 includes Chhattisgarhi language material. The minister explained that in Hindi language textbooks from classes six to eight, 30 per cent of the content is in Chhattisgarhi language. Similarly, in Hindi language textbooks from classes nine to ten, 15 per cent of the content is in Chhattisgarhi language.
