RAIPUR: More than 25 lakh farmers have received a payment for Rs 52,000 crore in their accounts, for paddy sale of 149.25 lakh metric tons, with the end of paddy procurement season in Chhattisgarh.

According to a govt statement, the sale of tractors and other farm equipment has reached record numbers, and the farmers are benefiting from fair prices for their produce.

This development comes right after the completion of the paddy procurement season, with farmers receiving payments just a week after the season's conclusion, the statement said.

“The financial support has invigorated farmers, encouraging them to reinvest in agriculture, leading to a bustling market and positive effects on the state's urban economy. The sale of tractors and other farm equipment has reached record numbers, and the farmers are benefiting from fair prices for their produce,” the officials said.

This year, a total of 25.72 lakh farmers sold a record 149.25 lakh metric tons of paddy, a significant achievement for the state’s agricultural sector. The state's silver jubilee year, marked by over 25 lakh farmers selling paddy, showcases the growing success of Chhattisgarh's agricultural direction. Last year, the government spent Rs 34,500 crore on paddy procurement at the minimum support price (MSP), along with Rs 12,000 crore under the farmers' progress scheme.

Chhattisgarh government has also implemented other schemes to provide further support to farmers including DeendayalUpadhyaya landless agricultural labour welfare scheme, nearly Rs 500 crore has been transferred to the accounts of 5.62 lakh landless farmers.

Furthermore, Rs 200 crore has been allocated in subsidies for solar pumps, while Rs 200 crore has been spent on energizing agricultural pumps.

Focus on modernizing agriculture with initiatives such as the drone spraying programme, which allows pesticides to be sprayed using drones.

To promote organic farming, the government has invested Rs 15 crore in the last year, supporting 15,500 farmers. These efforts reflect the government’s commitment to improving agricultural practices and enhancing the livelihoods of farmers across the state.
