Chhattisgarh: Durgapur becomes first village in Raigarh district to achieve 100% vaccination of adults
RAIPUR: Durgapur, a remote village majorly dominated by tribals, has become the first village in Raigarh district to have all the citizens above the age of 18 vaccinated against coronavirus.
The villagers of this village, located about four kilometers away from Dharamjaigarh block headquarters, showed a great enthusiasm in participating in the covid vaccination campaign. The local health workers played an important role in making the citizens aware about Covid vaccination and debunk related myths. With their constant efforts, they managed to convince the villagers that vaccines are the most effective way to protect oneself from the deadly virus.
Village Sarpanch Anand Kunwar Rathia also played an important role in the vaccination of villagers. He informed that a meeting of all health workers, Anganwadi workers and other people concerned was organized prior to commencement of the vaccination programme in the village; all the Panch were also entrusted with the responsibility of getting the vaccination done ward-wise. Everyone worked hard and went door to door in the village to make people aware about vaccination.
A total of five vaccination sessions were organized in the village by the health department. On-spot registration facility was made available for online entry in the portal. The result of the teamwork of all the people was that against the target of 18 years of age above all 880 people of the village could be vaccinated and the village became fully vaccinated, he said.
