Chhattisgarh assembly on Monday paid rich tributes to the chief of defence staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others who died in a helicopter crash, a sitting legislator and others.

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh assembly on Monday paid rich tributes to the chief of defence staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 others who died in a helicopter crash, a sitting legislator and others.
As soon as the house assembled for the winter session, speaker Dr Charandas Mahant made obituary references of Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC-J) legislator Devvrat Singh, former MP Godilal Prasad Anuragi, former minister Rajinder Pal Singh Bhatia, former parliamentary secretary Yudhvir Singh Judeo, former minister during undivided Madhya Pradesh Moolchand Khandelwal and former MLA of undivided Madhya Pradesh Manuram Kachh, who all died during the inter-session period and paid tributes to them.

The speaker also referred to the death of CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other defence personnel in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu on December 8.
Paying tributes to General Bipin Rawat and others, the speaker recalled their contribution to the nation.
Paying homage to the departed defence personnel and leaders, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel described General Bipin Rawat’s death as an irreparable loss to the nation while the leader of the opposition Dharamlal Kaushik said general Rawat’s life journey was amazing as he rose from a small village to become country’s top military officer.
“It’s a big loss”, the chief minister said.
Cutting across party lines, the legislators paid homage to General Bipin Rawat by recalling his services to the nation.
Later, the house observed a two-minute silence and later adjourned for the day as a mark of respect to the departed defence personnel and other leaders.
