The discussions centered on the comprehensive assessment of all 90 assembly constituencies and the identification of potential candidates. The meeting, which went on until late evening, was attended by chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, state in charge Kumari Selja, deputy CM TS Singhdeo, PCC chief Deepak Baij, and assembly speaker Charandas Mahant, along with other senior party leaders.

Sources said that it was made clear in the meeting that the candidates would be selected based on their influence and performance, and nominations should be submitted for tickets to the block Congress committee between August 17 and 22. Their applications wouldn't be accepted if they come via an election committee member or any other leader, said Selja.

She mentioned that candidates have to fill out an online application, and all block Congress committees will have a meeting on August 24 to discuss probable names. The committees will provide the list of names to district committees on August 26, and the District Congress Committee will convene a meeting on August 29 to submit a panel of names to PCC, including all applications and proposals.

The screening committee will ultimately decide on all candidate names. Selja told reporters that discussions were held on the selection criteria for candidates, which necessarily have to include winning qualities and dedication towards leadership.
