Chhattisgarh: 6,780 get jabs at special vaccination camps in Raigarh district

RAIPUR: Special door to door Covid-19 vaccination awareness camps were organised in

Sarangarh

and Lailunga blocks in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district, where the pace of vaccination was slower than expected due to hesitancy and fear among villagers.


The joint team of district administration and health department recently reached the door-to-door in these villages and made people get vaccinated against the deadly virus by explaining its importance and benefits.

Special camps were organized in villages of Bhedwan and Kosir sectors of Sarangarh and

Mukdega

and Rajpur sectors of Lailunga, a total of 6,780 vaccines were administered.

“Getting people vaccinated against

Covid

in these villages has been a very challenging task. The pace of vaccination was not getting increased even after constant persuasion to the people. Therefore, this intensive vaccination campaign was carried out under the leadership of district collector Bhim Singh in which the joint team of officials spoke one to one to people and bought them to vaccination centres. Such intensive vaccination campaigns would be conducted in future too," said district immunisation officer Dr Bhanu Patel.

For this special camp, a team was formed at the sub-health centre level, including teachers and other school staff, village Sarpanch,

Gram Panchayat

secretary, agriculture officer and Anganwadi worker.

This joint team tracked the people who were not vaccinated so far in these villages and motivated them to get the jabs.

Not only the youth but pregnant mothers also got vaccinated in large numbers.

Health officials said the explanation by officials had a positive effect on pregnant women and a large number of pregnant and lactating women got vaccinated in this special camp.
