CBI grills Guru Ghasidas varsity officials

Bilaspur: CBI on Wednesday grilled former officiating vice chancellor of Guru Ghasidas Central University SP Singh and head of chemical engineering department SN Saha with regard to some of the appointments made by them in the central university.

According to university sources CBI sleuths had questioned head of the department of biotechnology BN Tiwari on Tuesday.

The CBI has been conducting an inquiry into a number of appointments of faculty members of GGCU during the tenure of former vice chancellor Laxman Chaturvedi.

Sources claimed that while former officiating vice chancellor SP Singh and BN Tiwari were questioned with regard to appointment of associate professor Seema Rai, SN Saha was questioned with regard to appointment of Shailendra Kumar who is presently director of IT at GGCU.

Both SP Singh and Saha were grilled for more than four hours on Wednesday, while Tiwari on Tuesday was questioned for more than four hours.

The CBI is expected to question more than a dozen GGCU faculty and officials on Thursday as well, sources claimed.
