Builder’s son found dead in mall, dozen taken into custody

BILASPUR: Dead body of a 20 year-old youth, son of a local builder was found on the stairs of basement of a mall here Friday morning. The body bore injury wounds and had a hand fractured. Police suspect that the deceased was murdered. Police have taken a dozen persons into custody, including four friends of the deceased.


According to information the deceased, identified as Gaurang Bobde had gone a pub in the mall and had partied till tale night along with his friends. Gaurang was doing his MBA from Pune and had come to Bilaspur only a day earlier from Raaipur. He had thrown the party. His father, Shrirang Bobde, was planning to set up an ash bricks factory for him at Raipur.
According to sources a group of about half a dozen youth, including Gaurang partied till late night at the said pub in the mall. No one knows as to what happened after that.


Somewhere in the early morning guards of the mall found Gaurand on the stairs of the basement of the mall. Guards of the mall rushed Gaurang to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The matter was reported to police and also to father of the deceased.
His father informed police that he was Raipur, while Gaurang and his mother were in Bilaspur. He told police that his mother could inform as to with who Gaurang had gone to the pub.


Police visited the spot where Gaurang’s body was found and have collected some clues, including shoes of the deceased. So far police is not saying anything about the case, excepting that prima facie it appears to be a case of murder.
In the meanwhile, police have taken into custody some youth who regularly visit the said pub, guards of the mall, bouncers and staff of the pub and four friends of the deceased and are interrogating them.


According to CSP Lakhan Patle body of the deceased bore injury marks and had a hand fractured. Prima facie it appears to be a case of murder. Police are investigating further, he added. Police are also checking CCTV footage of the pub and the mall. According to SP Mayank Shrivastava about a dozen persons have been taken into custody and are being interrogated in this connection.
