Boy weaved his own abduction story, returns home
BILASPUR: The abduction story that had created a lot of sensation on Monday turned out to be fake. The boy had lost a lot of money in cricket betting and when the lenders began pressurizing him to pay back, he weaved his own abduction story and vanished from home. He returned home on Tuesday. Bilha police have recorded his statement in this connection.
The boy, Vikas Tiwari (17), a resident of Devkirari under Bilha police station had vanished from his home around 5 pm on Monday. His father Kanhaiyalal Tiwari is a farmer. At around 8 pm his family received a message from his mobile asking for a ransom of Rs 10 lakh to be delivered at Raipur. The family immediately informed Bilha police about the matter. Vikas Tiwari’s motorcycle was found abandoned at Bilha railway station later in the night. Since Vikas Tiwari also happens to be cousin of AIG Pratibha Tiwari, the matter created a lot of sensation and a big challenge for the police.
During preliminary investigations the boy’s mobile location was traced near Bhanpuri in Raipur. A police team was dispatched to Bhanpuri. However, his mobile was switched off after the ransom message. The police team raided several places, including hotels, restaurants and dhabas at Bhanpuri but did not find any trace of him. In the meanwhile another team detained Vikas Ttiwari’s friends and some suspects at Bilha and interrogated them. This exercise also proved futile. Meanwhile, a case under Section 363, 364 IPC (abduction and illegal detention) was registered against unknown accused.
In the meanwhile, two of Vikas Tiwari’s friends informed police that he used to bet heavily in IPL matches and has lost huge amount. They also said that the bookies were pressurizing him to pay the money and he was disturbed because of it. It was this pressure that made him to weave his own abduction story. He, however, could not stand the police pressure returned home on Tuesday. Bilha police have recorded his statement in this connection and are preparing for further action.
