Bollywood celebrities join Nijaat campaign of Chhattisgarh aimed at deaddiction
RAIPUR: Celebrities from TV, Bollywood and Chhattisgarh are joining the Nijaat campaign of Bilaspur police, aimed at sensitizing youths against addiction. Through video clippings, the celebrities are making an appeal to the youths to refrain from addiction.
Bilaspur police has launched a campaign against drugs, narcotics and illegal drugs, which includes strict action, extensive public awareness programmes and help drug addicts to get rid of addiction.
Bollywood/TV actors Prabhu Deva, Arbaaz Khan, Rajpal Yadav, Piyush Mishra, singer Kavita Krishnamurthy, Kailash Kher, Virendra Saxena, Sunil Grover, Bhagwan Tiwari, Shahwar Ali, Yash Ajay Singh, Paritosh Tripathi, Manmohan Tiwari etc. have released videos with an appeal for youths to stay away from drugs.
Chhattisgarh’s Padma Shri recipient Anuj Sharma, Padma Vibhushan recipient Teejan Bai, Rakesh Sharma, Mona Sen, folk singer Mamta Chandrakar, Dilip Shadangi, Sunil Tiwari, Anchal Sharma, Zakir Hussain, Gopal Singh, Yogesh Agrawal, Prakash Awasthi and many others have also joined hands to make the campaign successful.
So far, 505 programmes have been organised in schools, colleges and public places under public awareness against drugs, starting from the month of February. Nijat Rath with anti-drug jingles has become an important part of the campaigning against drugs in rural areas.
Under the campaign, a total of 1303 people have been arrested under the Excise and NDPS Act in two months, out of which 228 accused were sent to jail in non-bailable cases. Along with this, de-addiction cells are being set up in ten police stations of the district for monitoring drug addicts.
