RAIPUR: The BJP marked its 47th foundation day across Chhattisgarh on Monday with statewide celebrations, as chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the party’s rise to become the world’s largest political organisation was driven by the relentless efforts of its cadre.
At the state BJP headquarters, Kushabhau Thakre Parisar in Raipur, Sai hoisted the party flag and paid floral tributes to the party’s ideologues. Addressing workers, he said the BJP, founded on April 6, 1980, was built on principles and ideals, and was not a party centred around any one family, caste or class.

Sai said the BJP’s rise as the world’s largest political party had been made possible by the hard work of its workers and the sacrifices of its founding leaders. Calling party workers “devtulya”, he said their dedication and discipline had turned the BJP into the country’s biggest political force and helped Chhattisgarh move steadily on the path of development.
He added that Chhattisgarh’s double-engine govt would further accelerate development, especially alongside the drive to eliminate Naxalism.
Meanwhile, state BJP president Kiran Dev hoisted the party flag at the district office in Jagdalpur and extended greetings to workers on the occasion. He said every BJP worker was hardworking and committed, and that it was the strength of grassroots cadre that had made the party the world’s largest political organisation.
Flag-hoisting ceremonies were held at all district offices across the state as part of the foundation day observance. The BJP has lined up a series of programmes from April 6 to 12 across Chhattisgarh.
