Raipur: A 30-year-old rider died after being run over by a tractor in Namni village of Jashpur district late on Tuesday evening. Tapkra police said that the deceased was identified as
Ajay Ram, who was traveling from Singibahar to Upkachar village when a speeding tractor near village Namni collided with his bike. The biker came under the grip of the tractor’s wheels and died on the spot.
The tractor driver, Jaiman Madu, fled towards Singibahar.
However, the villagers near the Singibahar Forest Department barrier apprehended him while he was trying to escape. The accused was brought along with the tractor to Namni Chowk, where he was thrashed by the public. The owner of the tractor,
Ramesh Sahu, a resident of Singibahar, was identified.
Upon receiving the information, the Tapkra police arrived at the scene and managed to pacify the angry crowd, persuading them to let go of the tractor driver. The body of the deceased youth was sent for autopsy and later handed over to the relatives on Wednesday morning. The police have registered a case and the investigation is ongoing.TNN
