RAIPUR: An assistant sub-inspector who gave a bike ride to Chhattisgarh home minister during his recent visit to insurgency-hit Bijapur district, was killed in an accident when he was out on anti-Naxalite operation and his motorcycle fell into a ditch, in Bastar region on Thursday. The cop who belonged to District Reserve Guards force had sustained fatal injuries.
The 39-year-old cop was riding the bike and had a pillion rider who also got injured but escaped with minor wounds.

Police said that Telam Chamru, posted as ASI with DRG force in Bijapur district died in an accident when he was out on search operation with the team in Bechapal village in Mirtur region. The troops were on bikes and Chamru’s pillion rider was constable Uday Kumar Patwa of Bastar fighters.
Chamru lost control of their bike on a muddy and slippery road on hills, caused due to heavy rain in the region and he along with Patwa fell in the ditch due to the disbalance.
The other soldiers rushed and pulled them out but Chamru had sustained severe injuries and as soon as the injured were shifted to hospital in Dantewada district, he succumbed within minutes of admission. The condition of the other constable Patwa was stated to be stable and he was admitted at Jagdalpur hospital.
ASI Chamru recently went to limelight during a visit of deputy chief minister Vijay Sharma who also holds a Home and he went pillion ride on Chamru’s bike to move around in the Maoist region in Palnar.
Chamru will be given a guard of honour on Friday. He was a native of the village Mormed in Bijapur.
