Arunachal, Assam lift titles as weightlifting wraps up girls bag overall weightlifting titles

Raipur: The weightlifting competition at the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 wrapped up Sunday at Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University, with Arunachal Pradesh claiming the men's overall title and Assam dominating the women's category.Arunachal Pradesh led the men, followed by Mizoram in first runner-up and Assam in second. Assam topped the women, with Odisha and host Chhattisgarh taking first and second runner-up spots.In men's 110 kg, Sambo Lapung of Arunachal Pradesh earned gold with a 299 kg total lift. Mizoram's David Lalzawmdika took silver at 270 kg, while Chhattisgarh's Lucky Babu Markam won bronze with 261 kg.Mizoram's David Johmingmawia claimed men's 110+ kg gold at 290 kg. Andhra Pradesh's Gugulothu Raja Shekhar (255 kg) grabbed silver, and Assam's Manash Pratim Sonwal earned bronze at 223 kg. Maharashtra's Sakshi Bandu Burkule ruled women's 86 kg with 150 kg for gold. Chhattisgarh's Rishika Kashyap credited her coach for her 121 kg silver, while Assam's Bitupuna Deori took bronze.In women's 86+ kg, Mizoram's Josangzuali lifted 140kg for gold. Assam's Pinky Boro and Madhya Pradesh's Gunjan Uikey won silver and bronze respectively.
