Raipur: Forest department officials arrested three men from Odisha on April 25, for allegedly attempting to hunt wildlife and catch fish using poison in the Udanti-Sitanadi Tiger Reserve, Gariaband. The operation took place within the Peepalkhunta circle of the Indagaon (Dhurwagudi) buffer zone.Forest personnel discovered the accused using shovels to divert water flow near the Godena waterfall to trap marine life using toxic leaves. The anti-poaching team immediately apprehended the individuals and notified senior officials.The accused are Chamru Kamar, Lakhiram Kamar and Sanjay Kamar. All three are residents Raigarh district in Odisha.Authorities registered a case under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. The Chief Judicial Magistrate in Devbhog remanded the three men to the Gariaband district jail following their production in court. Senior forest officials stated that the anti-poaching team remains vigilant to deter illegal activities and punish those trespassing within protected forest zones.
