25 booked for hurling stones at ED team after search at Baghel home

Raipur: Enforcement Directorate has filed a complaint with Durg police that stones were hurled at its officials after the searches on former CM Bhupesh Baghel's residence on Monday in connection with the alleged Rs 2000-crore liquor scam.Sources said that Chaitanya has been summoned to the ED office in Raipur on Mar 15.Police have registered an FIR against 25 people for obstructing the ED vehicle and pelting stones when the central agency team was exiting Baghel's residence.During the search, Congress workers had gathered outside the Baghel residence to protest the ED action.Police said a complaint was filed at Old Bhilai police station on Monday night that 15-20 protestors stopped the ED vehicle when it was leaving Baghel's home at 4:30pm on Monday. Some people climbed on the bonnet of the car and others allegedly hurled stones, breaking the front windshield.The FIR charges Bhilai resident Sunny Agarwal, an active Congress worker, and the 24 others with rioting, unlawful assembly, obstructing public servant, assaulting a public servant, and wrongful restraint under BNS, and section 3 of Public Property Destruction Law.Congress protests spread statewide on Tuesday. The opposition party alleges that ED is acting like an extension of the ruling BJP, and the searches are out of political vendetta.
