PUNE: The Pune police have so far apprehended five people, including the accused's father Vishal Agarwal days after a Porsche driven by the 17-year-old claimed the lives of software engineers Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta in city's Kalyaninagar area early on Sunday.
The teen was under the influence of alcohol. He consumed liquor at two different pubs in the early hours of Sunday.
Vishal Agarwal, a prominent real estate developer in Pune, heads Brahma Corp, a company established by his great-grandfather, Brahmadatt Agarwal.
Under Vishal's stewardship, the company has experienced substantial growth, with reported assets of approximately Rs 601 crore.
Brahma Corp has developed significant housing projects in areas such as Wadgaon Sheri, Kharadi, and Viman Nagar and has constructed notable buildings like the Sheraton Grand and Residency Club.
The family also owns businesses such as Brahma Multispace and Brahma Multicon, and their construction company has built five-star hotels in Pune.
Vishal Agarwal faces charges under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act for allegedly permitting his minor son to drive and consume alcohol.
Also, the police are invoking Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code, asserting that the teenager's reckless actions could have been anticipated to result in death.
The teen driver was initially granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board within 15 hours of the incident, sparking criticism.
In an effort to avoid arrest, Vishal Agarwal attempted to mislead the police by moving between his properties in Pune and traveling to Kolhapur and Sambhajinagar using his friend's car.
However, the police successfully tracked him using GPS technology and arrested him in Aurangabad.
