What opposition couldn't do in 15 years, BJP govt did in five, says Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis

GURUKUNJ MOZARI (AMRAVATI): Sounding poll bugle for the upcoming state assembly elections, CM Devendra Fadnavis launched Mahajanadesh Yatra from the samadhi sthal of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj here on Thursday.


Fadnavis said he was undertaking this yatra to seek a mega mandate in the upcoming polls because he considers people as his deity and he was accountable to them. "It is my duty to tell the people what I have done in last five years and seek their blessings for a second term," the CM said.

Commenting on a stream of leaders joining the

saffron

party, Fadnavis said, "BJP does not run after anybody anymore. Now, it is people who run after the party for joining it. We allow good people in but show the board of 'houseful' to those not worthy."

Fadnavis said what his government has achieved in five years, the opposition parties could not do it in 15 years when they were in power. He offered to quit electoral battle if the opposition parties proved him wrong.

The chief minister said that he would devote next five years for making Maharashtra drought-free. "We have seen and suffered drought. I do not want our next generation to experience it. I will make every effort to conserve rainwater that goes waste and divert it to every village so that Vidarbha,

Marathwada

and rest of Maharashtra become drought-free," the CM said, while exhorting the huge gathering to give him mandate.

"Our government works for you while the erstwhile government worked for itself," Fadnavis said and assured that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he would strive to make Maharashtra a capable state.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh termed Fadnavis as a charismatic leader who lived up to the trust reposed in him by PM Modi. "Fadnavis has won your trust in these five years and will win your heart in the next five," he said.
