PUNE: Several housing societies in the Kalyaninagar area of Pune were waterlogged on Thursday morning after incessant rains throughout the previous night. Residents from Kalyaninagar reported waking up to knee-deep water and water gushing into parking spaces.

A resident of Lane 6 in Kalyaninagar, Meeta Menon, mentioned that the situation was dangerous around 6 am on Thursday as the rains were non-stop.

Menon told TOI, "We have been experiencing this every year whenever there is a heavy spell. The civic body has failed to address our problems, and now we are facing the wrath. It is difficult even to get out of our houses, not to mention the diseases that come with these floods."

In Kharadi, the crematorium was also waterlogged as water from the Mula-Mutha river had gushed into the area.

The underpass connecting Viman Nagar, Pune Airport, and other areas to Kalyaninagar and Koregaon Park was flooded on Thursday morning, forcing commuters to take alternate routes.

A resident of Mundhwa, Sakshi Sharma, who had an 11:30 am flight, said she had to turn around from the start of the underpass to reach the airport from Wadgaonsheri. "There were a couple of cars that had already broken down, and many other commuters were turning back due to the heavy waterlogging,".
