PUNE: The fifth Vinod Doshi Memorial Theater festival will be held from February 25 to March 1, 2013 at the Yeshwantrao Chavan Natyagruha, Kothrud, Pune. The Premier LTD, the organiser of the festival announced its schedule at a news conference held in the city recently. Eminent playwright Satish Alekar and actor Mohan Agashe, writer-actor Sagar Deshmukh, directors Mohit Takalkar, Iravati Karnik and Mihir Bhuta, were present on the occasion.

This year, the Vinod Doshi festival will offer some of the most acclaimed plays like. 'Piya Bahurupiya' a play by Atul Kumar (Hindi, based on a play by William Shakespeare; February 25,) 'Adhe Adhure' by Liliete Dubey (Hindi, Written by Mohan Rakesh, February 26), 'Maro Piyo Gayo Rangoon' by Sunil Shanbag (Gujrathi, Originally Written by William Shakespeare, February 27), 'Gasha' by Abhishek Majumdar (Hindi, Written by Irawati Karnik, February 28) , 'Une Pure Shar Ek' directed by Mohit Takalkar (Marathi, March 1) will be showcased in the festival.
Ashok Kulkarni, convenor of the festival said, "The festival was being organised since last four years. During the first year the festival was held in both, Mumbai and Pune but now the organisers have decided to hold it in Pune only."
This theatre festival is held every year to celebrate Vinod Doshi, an eminent industrialist's passion for theatre. Doshi has closely interaction with playwrights, actors, directors and technicians. His wife, Saryu Doshi, continued his legacy through this festival.
Noted playwright Satish Alekar while speaking at the news conference said that Vinod Doshi Festival was one of hope for upcoming theatre artists and every year the festival gives a new boost to experimental theatre.
