Vijay Bhatkar on the new body for BORI

PUNE: Noted scientist Vijay Bhatkar, Pandit Vasantrao Gadgil and Shyam Satpute are among the 11 new members who have been elected to the governing body of the BORI.

PUNE: Noted scientist Vijay Bhatkar, Pandit Vasantrao Gadgil and former BJP corporator Shyam Satpute are among the 11 new members who have been elected to the governing body (Niyamak Mandal) of the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI), Pune.
Speaking to reporters, Satpute said that the elections for the 25 member governing body were held by inviting postal ballots from the 1187 members between May 5 to June 8.

The counting was held on June 10.
Out of the 25 members elected, 11 have been elected for the first time on the all powerful governing council of the BORI. They are; Bhatkar, Gadgil, Satpute, V N Jha, B L Hardikar, G T Panse, S G Deodikar, Maitreyee Deshpande, B L Chhajed, Mandar Bedekar, M H Paranjape.
The remaining 14 members , who have got re-elected, are; M G Dhadphale, M A Kulkarni, S S Bapat, P G Lalye, Shobhana Gokhale, R M Bhalerao, S D Joshi, V V Bedekar, Asha Gujar, Saroj Bhate, Leela Arjunwadkar, V L Manjul, S S Bahulkar and Shripad Bhat.
Dhadphale has secured the highest number of votes (324). The new body has been elected for a three years tenure, 2005-2008.
