The Pune Rural police on Thursday took an employee of a nearby restaurant into custody from a lodge in Pune, in connection with the murders of the two sisters. "The bodies of the girls have been sent for post-mortem. We are questioning the suspect," an officer from the Pune Rural police told TOI.

The girls' parents on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the Khed police after the girls went missing while playing in front of their house.

During investigations, when the police checked the room of waiters working at the nearby restaurant, they found the bodies of the girls stuffed in the drum half-filled with water.

"The investigations revealed the involvement of the restaurant employee in the murder of the girls. The reason behind the murder is being investigated," the officer said.
