The crime branch of the Pune police on Saturday arrested two men from Pimpri for their alleged involvement in betting during the ongoing T20 cricket matches.

PUNE: The crime branch of the Pune police on Saturday arrested two men from Pimpri for their alleged involvement in betting during the ongoing T20 cricket matches.
Police seized a laptop, an LCD television and 10 cellphones worth Rs 69,000 from the suspects.
They have been identified as Anil Jevrani (42) and Gulshan Vaswani, both of Pimpri. A team from unit-III of the crime branch, led by inspector Sunil Pawar, made the arrests.

Pawar told TOI that he received a tip-off that Jevrani and Vaswani were running a betting racket from Jevrani's residence in Pimpri. "We raided the flat around 10pm on Saturday and nabbed the duo," he said. A case has been registered with the Pimpri police station.
On April 27, inspector Pawar and his team had arrested two men who were betting on a T20 match from Nigdi. The third suspect who was accepting bets is still untraceable.The police investigating team comprised assistant police inspector Jalindar Tandale, police sub-inspector Arun Surve, police constables Ashok Gaik-wad, Bharat Udale, Nagnath Lakde, Gunshilan Rangam and Mahendra Pawar.
