Two friends killed after motorcycle rams into truck
Pune: Two friends died after their motorcycle rammed into the rear of a truck on the Pune-Nashik highway near Chimbali Phata in Khed taluka during the early hours of Monday.
The victims were identified as Shilkesh Kalpande (28) and Rupesh Bharkshe (29), who were returning to Moshi when the accident took place around 2am.
According to the South Mahalunge MIDC police, a truck overtook the motorcycle and suddenly applied brakes, leaving the riders with little time to react. Their motorcycle crashed into the rear of the truck, causing severe injuries to their heads, chests and hands. The two men were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.
Police sub-inspector Rameshwar Ghule said, “A case of causing death by negligence has been registered against the truck driver. Kalpande, of Wardha district, worked with a private company in Chakan MIDC.
