Two friends drown in water tank

PUNE: Two friends drowned in a private water tank at a farm in Lohegaon on late on Monday afternoon.
The bodies of Akshay Arun Chincholkar (25) of Lohegaon and Chandannagar’s Ravindra Popat Ghadshi (26) were fished out by the fire brigade.
According to the police, the two deceased and two other friends had gone to the farm with Monday being a holiday.The tragedy occurred around 4pm.
The city received good rainfall the past few days, causing a significant rise in the tank’s water level. The four friends waded into the tank for a swim. One of them stepped out and spotted another person drowning in the tank. He jumped back in and rescued that person.
However, Chincholkar and Dhadshi went missing. After a prolonged search, the two friends called in the fire brigade.
Earlier in the day, the fire brigade had recovered the body of an unidentified youth, about 25 years of age, from the Mutha river at Deccan. The officials suspect suicide.
