PUNE: The Deccan Gymkhana police on Wednesday arrested two and detained two minors for their alleged involvement in stealing valuables from parked two-wheelers on J M and F C roads.
With this, the Pune police have arrested two people and detained six minors for stealing valuables from vehicles in the last four days.
Explaining the modus operandi of the foursome held on Wednesday, constable Mahesh Nimbalkar said, "They suspects had developed a trick to open the dickey of a particular make of two-wheeler without using keys.
They would do it in a few seconds and run away."
The suspects have been identified as Nikhil Vivek Ingle (20) of Sahakarnagar and Anil Damodar Dudhe (20), a resident of Gawliwadi, Aranyeshwar. Ingle was earlier arrested by the Swargate police in a vehicle theft case. The police recovered four two-wheelers, 15 cell phones, about 50 sun glasses and cash of Rs 15,000 totalling to Rs 1.50 lakh from their possession.
The trap near Deccan Gymkhana was laid by assistant police inspector M K Kulkarni and his team. On May 10, the same team had caught two minors at FC road red-handed and recovered two cell phones from them.
The Dattawadi police on May 11 nabbed two other minors and recovered goods worth Rs 1.95 lakh, which they had stolen from two-wheelers parked at Sahakarnagar.
Ingle and Dudhe were produced in the magistrate court and remanded to police custody till May 16.
