PUNE: Trringo, a Mahindra & Mahindra venture, said it has set-up base in Maharashtra by beginning to rent out tractors and farm equipment to farmers in two talukas Koregaon and Karad of Satara.
Soon enough, the company said, it will spread itself into 14 talukas of the state, six agri-zone of Rajasthan and few places in Gujarat.
Trringo has already opened 10 centres in Karnataka and is in the process of opening 30 more by November.

It has signed an agreement with the government to open 100 such centres in the state.
About 80% of farmers in India are classified as small and marginal farmers, those holding less than two hectares of land each. This renders farm mechanisation and modern farming practices expensive and has a direct bearing on productivity. The average yield per hectare in India lags many other countries of the world, despite having one of the largest areas under cultivation.
Renting of farm equipment has been thought of as a solution for a long time but it has not taken off in a big way. “Much of renting happens in an unorganised way meaning small farmers borrow tractors and farm equipments from rich farmers. Also, many farmers depend on more than one source for their equipment needs. Our model will offer most equipments a farmer wants under one roof,” said Arvind Kumar, CEO, Trringo.
Kumar said farmers need tractors along with around 10 other farm equipment for their farming needs. Trringo will operate in villages on a franchise model wherein the franchise will keep 90% of the revenue while the rest will got to the company.
“The farmers will be able to hire a tractor at a market rate of Rs 700-1,000 per hour,” Kumar said, adding that whenever a farmer needs a tractor or any other farm equipment, they can simply call Trringo, or use its mobile app, and place their order.
