Traffic diversion near Rajaram bridge on Sinhagad Road to aid flyover work

PUNE: Vehicle users heading towards Dhayari via Rajaram bridge will not be allowed right turn to Sinhagad Road for the next few days. Instead, they will have to take a left turn and proceed for a few metres before taking a U-turn to continue their onward journey.

Similarly, vehicle users on Sinhagad Road wanting to take a right turn towards Rajaram bridge will have to travel a few meters ahead and then take a U-turn, followed by a left turn towards the bridge.

The traffic diversions have been put in place at the Rajaram bridge chowk to felicitate the ongoing flyover work on Sinhagad Road.

PMC officials said the barricades have been put up at the chowk to guide the motorists. "Diversion boards have been put on the barricades to assist the road users," a civic official said, adding that the vehicles travelling on Sinhagad Road would not face any traffic diversion.

Regular commuters on Sinhagad Road said they were already facing traffic snarls on the road due to the ongoing flyover work. Wadgaon resident Anand Nayak said traffic diversions will only increase the travel time. "The administration should expedite the flyover work at the key chowks like the one near Rajaram bridge," he said.

The PMC is constructing two flyovers on Sinhagad Road to ease traffic movement. Another official from PMC said it would be risky to allow vehicular movement at the chowk during heavy works, including the launching of girders and slab.

Vitthalwadi resident Mahesh Adkar said the administration should deploy more staffers at the chowk to keep the traffic moving, especially during the peak morning and evening hours.
