pune: two people, including the prominent mumbai-based sharebroker nirmal bang died in separate accidents on the pune-mumbai expressway on friday. according to the talegaon police, 38-year-old nirmal bang, his friend rajesh shah and driver anand naik were travelling from mumbai to pune by car when around 1.15 p.m., as they approached gahunje village, one of the car's tyres burst.

as a result, the car turned turtle and was hurled across several metres. mr bang died on the spot, though his other friends ram pande and rajesh purandare, who were travelling in another car, rushed the injured to a private hospital in chinchwad. mr bang was believed to be a close associate of ketan parikh, who was accused in the recent stockmarket scam. his role was being investigated by the central bureau of investigation. in the other accident, nitin kulkarni (40), a resident of kothrud, was killed when a speeding jeep hit his car from behind, near talegaon. both mr kullkarni and his employee priti puranik (23), who was with him, were seriously injured.they were rushed to a private hospital at chinchwad, but mr kullkarni was declared dead on arrival. ms puranik's condition is said to be critical. the police have detained the driver of the jeep but no offence has been registered against him.
