PUNE: The Deccan Gymkhana police on Friday recovered the hammers and axes used to knock down Marathi playwright and poet Ram Ganesh Gadkari’s bust from its pedestal at Sambhaji Garden.
A team led by senior inspector Ajay Kadam recovered the items from the Mutha river.
Four workers of the Sambhaji Brigade and Swabhimani Sanghatana, in the early hours of Tuesday had knocked down the bust and had dumped it in the river.
The suspects Pradeep Kanse, Harshavardhan Magdum, Swapnil Kale and Ganesh Karale were produced before a city court on Friday. Assistant inspector Amol Devkar said the court extended their police custody for two days.
