TIFAC and CII ink MoU to boost innovation and technology assessment in industry
PUNE: Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council (Tifac), an autonomous body under Department of Science & Technology, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for promoting innovation, technology development and assessment in industry, a statement said.
The MoU will facilitate setting up centres of excellence in tier-II institutions focussed on emerging future trends which can offer specialised courses. The MoU includes partnership for technology interventions through projects in select areas such as healthcare services and delivery, education, livelihood, skill development and income generation focussed on Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
The collaboration also includes training programmes for academia in the region on technology foresight, IP Protection, management, valuation and transfer, technology assessment, technology demonstration, technology programme implementation and execution. The entities will provide customised training programmes for state government departments, ministries, industries, PSUs and information services officers. The agreement was signed by Pradeep Srivastava, ED, TIFAC, Pratima Kirloskar, promoter, Kirloskar Brothers and Rajesh Kapoor, regional director, CII western region.
