With the arrest of three men, the crime branch of Pune claim to have solved a robbery which had taken place in Kondhwa eight days ago.

PUNE: With the arrest of three men, the crime branch of Pune claim to have solved a robbery which had taken place in Kondhwa eight days ago.
The arrested men, identified as Dinesh Gopal Ganore (25), Mangesh Gopal Ganore (21) and Vishal Maruti Dhebe (21) are all from Bibvewadi and have criminal records. The gang leader, Sunil Laxman Gawli (26) of Mangdewadi, however, remains at large.
Deputy commissioner of police Rajesh Bansode (crime) told reporters that on June 18, the gang had barged into the residence of Sofia Akbar Shaikh (66), a resident of Kondhwa.

They had tied her up and robbed cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 90,600 from her apartment. They had also taken two gas cylinders.
Bansode said the men had also threatened Shaikh.
During investigations, police inspector Sunil Pawar (unit-IV) of the crime branch received a tip-off about the men involved in the robbery. "The gang was arrested on Saturday. During interrogation they admitted their involvement in the crime," Bansode said.
The police have recovered two motorcycles, a television set, one gas cylinder and gold ornaments totalling Rs 1.56 lakh from the gang. Investigations have also revealed that the suspects had stolen motorcycles from Vadgaon Dhayari and Kothrud. "They also admitted to committing a burglary at Sahakarnagar," Bansode said.
The investigating team comprised police inspector Sunil Bhosale, police constables Sikandar Jamadar, Dada Pawar and Umesh Shirke.
