Pune: The Symbiosis School bagged the rolling trophy and won Rs4,000 at the ninth edition of Mathemania, an inter-school Math quiz, hosted by Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School in Aundh, recently.
New India School emerged as the runner-up team and won Rs2,000. As many as 17 schools from the city participated in the quiz. The rounds Path Finders, Melding with Mathematicians, Spot On and Matter of Fact tested the mathematical abilities, computational fluency, analytical thinking and quantitative aptitude of the participants.
A new round, ‘Care For Kisan’ was introduced this year.
The toy round — Figuring it Out — gave the contestants an opportunity to play with the Snake Cube. he quiz concluded with the rapid fire round.
Compuskills contest
Millennium High School and Walnut High School bagged the first prize in the senior and the junior categories, respectively, at the inter-school Compuskills Championship 2018 recently.
The event was organized by Acharya Shree Vijay Vallabh School at Tilak Smarak Mandir in association with Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL), Computer Society Of India (CSI), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Rotary Club Of Poona Midtown.
In the senior category, Acharya Shree Vijay Vallabh School and DSK School won the second and third prizes respectively. In the junior category, Hutchings High School and Vidya Prathishthan’s Magarpatta City Public School received the second and third prize, respectively.
Nirmala Convent shines
Nirmala Convent School, Kharadi, secured the second place in the inter-school Hapkido and Skating championship organized by Mother Theresa School and bagged laurels in a number of sports events of the Zilla Parishad recently.
In the throw ball championship, the boys (under 14) and girls (under 17) teams bagged the second and third position respectively. Students of Class IX and X secured the third place in dodge ball competition. The girls (under 14) and boys (under 17) teams won the third prize in ring tennis.
In individual events, Tanishq Chinde of Class X secured gold medal in the Karate championship. Akash Jadhav of Class X won gold in triple jump and 200m running race.
