NIE member schools undertook the cleanliness and recycling pledge on the occasion of Independence Day.

Institutions across the city, including Akshara International School, Blue Ridge Public School, Darshan Academy, Sungrace High School, Hillgreen High School, Moledina High School, Acharya Shree Vijay Vallabh School and Educon International School, took part in it. Students and staffers together pledged to keep their surroundings, city and their country clean and make it a part of their daily lives. The pledge was an initiative by SWaCH, a social enterprise for waste management.

Suman More, the president of the board of directors at SWaCH, said, “If each of us pledges to keep our surroundings clean, we can make a difference to the entire city and the country. Children can make the most difference as they carry the message to their families and localities. Waste can be reduced through recycling and disposing it of the right way through waste workers.”

DAV wins Cryptic

Crossword Contest

Omkar Joshi of Standard XI and Arghish Akolkar of Standard XII from DAV Public School won the city round of the CBSE Cryptic Crossword Contest held recently in Delhi Public School for the fifth consecutive year. The team has been selected to participate in the national round of the contest to be held in New Delhi.

The DAV team cracked the daunting puzzle in a record time of four minutes against an hour that the others took.

City Pride shines in

scholarship exam

Six students of City Pride School topped the Maharashtra State Scholarship Examination (CBSE merit list), whose results were recently declared. Sayali Gaikwad emerged topper in Pune city and second in the state in the Pre-Upper Primary Scholarship Examination (for Standard V), while Niti Deokar secured the fourth state rank. In the Pre-Secondary Scholarship Examination (for Standard VIII), Vedant Talegaonkar secured the third state rank. Three other students of Standard VIII making it to state merit list are Arnav Kumbhar and Mrunal Athaley (fifth state rank), and Chinmayee Randhive (12th state rank).

Bishop’s, Camp, bags prize in WWS debate

The Bishop’s School, Camp, bagged the best team prize at the fifth Rajkumar Agarwal Inter-school English Debate Competition hosted by Wisdom World School, Wakad. The runner-up prize went to St Helena’s School. Tanishq Purohit of The Bishop’s School, Camp, and Tia Mishra of Wisdom World School, Wakad, both from Standard X, were adjudged the best speaker and runner-up speaker, respectively.

Participants from 15 schools of Pune debated on the motion “Degrees In The Creative Arts Are Luxuries Society Can No Longer Afford”.
