NEW DELHI: Six people died late on Monday after a speeding truck ran over them on the Dhule-Solapur National Highway near Gevrai town.
The incident took place around 11pm on Gandhi Bridge when an SUV hit a road median. As the passengers stepped out of the vehicle to move it, a truck approached at high speed and ran over them.
“All six died on the spot,” said Beed superintendent of police Navneet Kanwat.
The truck driver fled the scene. Police are investigating and efforts to trace the vehicle are underway, he said.
