Pune: The duo of Sonak and Mekal won the IMP pairs event in the Suhas Vaidya Memorial state-level bridge tournament. They tallied 76 points in the ‘A’ section at PYC Hindu Gymkhana on Tuesday to clinch the deal.
Gaurav Rajwade-Rahul Khambete (58 points) and TV Ramani-Subhash Bhavnani (57 points) finished second and third respectively.
A team named Serbia won the the team of four (duplicate) title on Monday.
Rajeev Khandelwal, Himani Khandelwal, Rajendra Gokhale, Kaustubh Bendre,
Vikram Mehta and Ashok Vaidya (47.82 points) were part of the winning team. They won by a margin of more than 20 points.
Anil Padhye, Sunil Machor, Raju Tolani, Arun Bapat, and Ajay Khare — representing ‘Sunil Machor’ team — were runners-up. The card game is a part of the Asian Games programme.
Cadence U-14 trials Cadence Cricket Academy, Mundhwa, will hold selection trials for Under-14 boys on Saturday.
Aspirants — born in the date range from September 1, 2009 to August 31, 2011 — are eligible to participate. Players may report in whites with cricketing kit and also carry their birth certificates and a recent photograph.

Disqualified for ‘using vehicle’ in ultra-marathonA Scottish runner has been stripped of third place in an ultra-marathon after data showed she had used a vehicle for a part of the route.
Data from the tracking system at the GB Ultras Manchester to Liverpool 80km race on April 7 showed that Joasia Zakrzewski, who represented Scotland in the marathon at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, used a car for a four kilometre stretch of the race, the BBC reported. tnn/agencies
