The solar panels would be installed for 25 years and a total of 459KW would be generated through them.

The smart city mission secretary Sanjay Sharma had recently given his approval for the project.

The chief information technology officer Nilkanth Poman said an agency has been appointed through the Solar Energy Corporation Limited for the

power purchase agreement

at Rs3.62 per unit. The units would be given to the municipal corporation.

The

Pune district

planning committee is planning to install solar panels on rooftops of other buildings as well. There would be a net metering system in place under which the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation would provide its solar panels to the grid which would be measured and adjusted against the electricity used from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited.
