PUNE: In six separate incidents of house break-in on Saturday and Sunday, the burglars fled with goods worth Rs 17.24 lakh. The incidents happened at Kothrud, Sadashiv Peth, Bibvewadi and Baner.
At Bibvewadi, the suspect took away gold ornaments worth Rs 14.30 lakh from the bungalow of Ramesh Govind Gujar (63), a resident of Anant colony, Bibvewadi, who had gone for Amarnath pilgrimage.
When Gujar returned home on Sunday morning, he found that the main door of his bungalow was open. When he entered he found the booty missing.
In another incident, the suspects struck at as many as four shops in Dahanukar colony including Reliance web world office. They fled with Rs 90,000 and four cell phones totalling Rs 94,000 during the wee hours of Sunday. A complaint in this regard has been lodged by Omkar Vishwnath Raghav (36) of Warje with the Kothrud police station. Along with Reliance wed world, the suspects also made attempts at three shops owned by Sunny Agarwal, Ashok Wankhede and Kausthubh Patil. The Kothrud police have booked some unidentified suspects in this regard.
Umesh Shamsundar Jiyani (26) of Baner has lodged a complaint with Chatushrungi police station stating that some unidentified persons entered his flat at Baner on Sunday afternoon by breaking the door lock and fled with Rs 4,000 and gold ornaments totalling Rs 1.18 lakh. In an incident that took place at Sadashiv Peth, the suspects broke into the house of Yogesh Sampatlal Kolan (30) and fled with Rs 29,900 and gold ornaments totalling Rs 81,900 on Saturday evening.
