PUNE: The 14th edition of the Shaniwarwada Kala Mahotsav, to be held in the city from December 22 to 25, will be inaugurated by sitar maestro Ustad Usman Khan.
"The magic of sitar, a handful of songs from the film industry, melodies of youthful exuberance and recital of classical songs are some of the highlights of the four-day event," said Vijay Kale, working secretary of the festival committee.
The event will begin with 'Swapna swaranche', a musical concert by Chaitanya Kulkarni, Meghana Sahasrabuddhe and Priyanka Barve. There will be a multifaceted programme presented by 150 child artistes from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.
A programme on romantic songs, 'Romanch', will feature singers Sayali Panse, Mithilesh Patankar and Rama Kulkarni. It will be held on December 24.National award winner Anand Bhate will present a concert on classical and light music on the concluding day.
Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, which has been active in training people in Hindustani classical music, as well as Rajhans publications and Chitraleela niketan kala mahavidyalaya will be felicitated during the festival.
