PUNE: Nine schools affiliated to the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE, Std X) recorded 100% results in the examination conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations this February.
St Mary's School had a total of 233 students appearing for the exam. Of these, 186 were girls and 47 boys. Among the girls, 140 scored more than 90% while 33 boys got above 90 pc.
"The number of students with more than 90% score has gone up this year.
Girls maintained their performance while participating in extra-curricular activities. Our basket ball team won a bronze medal at a national contest this year. It shows that studies are not the only area that the girls have mastered. It also goes to show that extra-curricular activities play an equally important role in education," Sujata Mallic Kumar, principal, St Mary's School, said.
At The Bishop's School, Camp, a total of 279 boys appeared and passed the exam. Dhruv Chaudhari emerged the school's topper with 97% (best of five) while Sagnik Mukherjee scored 96.40% to take the second spot.
"The number of students securing 90 % and above has increased this year. The marks in English have gone up in both our branches at Camp and Kalyaninagar. A total of 75 students have secured above 90 % in English this year," Joel Edwin, headmaster, The Bishop's School (Camp), said.
"Students performed well in geography and history. Most secured above 75%. Thus, aggregate percentage this year has gone up as compared to last year, in case of both schools," he added.
At the Bishop's Co-Ed School, Kalyaninagar, 181 students appeared and all passed to register 100 per cent result. Anirudh Venkat topped with 96.80% in this branch.
At Hutchings High School, Rushal Handa emerged the school topper with 96% score followed by Rohit Moorty in the second position with 95.8% score. The school had total 139 students who appeared. All cleared the exam.
Ankita Chauhan emerged topper in the Spicer Higher Secondary School with 95% score followed by Sachit Ajmani in the second spot with 93%. In all 95 students, including 45 girls, appeared in the exam.
A total of 205 students from St Helena's School appeared for and cleared the exam. Reshul Surendra Dani emerged the school topper with 96.57% followed by Sakhi Adesh Bhusane, who scored 95.57% and Nikita Nikhilesh Mehta, who scored 94.6%, to take second and third position in the school, respectively.
"Out of a total of 205 students, 164 students have scored distinction including 30 of them who have scored 90 % . The remaining 41 students have all scored a first class. The lowest score this year is 63 %. But we have seen greater competition among the students this year," said principal Vijaya Senji.
At Vidya Valley school, Manasi Wadekar took the top honours with 93% score followed by Aashna Banerjee and Puja Chowdhary, who scored 92.5% and 92.4%, respectively. In all 39 students appeared and cleared the exam.
At the Riverdale International Residential School in Mulshi, 56 students appeared and cleared the exam. Shivani Molavia (91.2%) scored above 90% while 21 students scored between 80-89% and 23 students scored between 70-79%.
The Vidya Pratishthan's Magarpatta City Public School had its first batch of 17 students appearing for the examination with 100 pc result. Pranav Ambardekar achieved 94 % to emerge topper while Nishant Jadhav (93.57 pc) and Utkarsha Gosavi (92.57%) followed him in the second and third spots.
At Vidya Pratishthan's Bal Vikas Mandir, Baramati school, 40 Students appeared for ICSE 2011 with 100 pc result. Rutuja Shingade with 92.14 pc topped the school.
The Hume McHenry High School in Pune had a pass percentage of 99 with Tara Sheikh emerging as the school topper with 91%. In all 102 students appeared in the exam from this school.
