The roads would come up in accordance with the urban street design of the smart cities mission in the twin towns. “The contractor will visit the site work sites and prepare the tender documents,” said Vijay Bhojne, bus rapid transit system official in the civic body.
Considering the heavy traffic at the sites, the contractor has to prepare a diversion plan and get it approved from the authorities before starting the work. The roads, besides meeting the regular requirements, will be pedestrian friendly and encourage use of public transport. Redesigning of the streets and junctions and retrofitting of the footpaths and roads are among the other features of the project.
