PUNE: Members of
Shiv Sena and NCP clashed on the premises of zilla parishad on Thursday, purportedly over the ruling NCP's decision to ignore names of two Sena MPs from Pune while printing the invitation card for the inauguration of ZP's new administrative building. The building will be inaugurated by NCP chief Sharad Pawar on August 21.
Sena leader from Khed-Shivapur, Ramesh Konde, was arrested by the Samarth police station under sections of the IPC for damaging public property, obstructing public servant from performing his duty and rioting.
Trouble started when Konde allegedly damaged 12 vehicles parked in ZP building, which included vehicles of the additional chief executive officer and chairmen of various committees. Konde was protesting because the names of Sena MPs from the district -- Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil and Gajanan Babar - were not mentioned in the invitation card of the opening function.
ZP president Savita Dagade said, "He (Konde) has damaged government property. A complaint has been registered against him." Dagade said the invitation was drafted with the consent of the chairman, the vice-chairman and office-bearers of committees.
The police have registered a complaint against Ramesh Konde, said assistant commissioner of police Mohammad Makandar.
This is the second incident of clash between Shiv Sena and NCP members in a span of 20 days. Earlier, in ZP's standing committee meeting, vice-president Arun Gire and Sena member Asha Buchke exchanged blows, which later turned into a scuffle between the two
