School from Mumbai wins CBSE cluster boys’ football tournament
PUNE: The Navy Children
In the under-19 category, Ryan International School, Sanpada, beat St Joseph’s High School, Panvel, with a score of 3-0. The best player trophies were won by Rohit Pandey from Navy Children School, Panvel, and Siddharth Yewale from Ryan International School, Sanpada, in the under-17 and under-19 categories, respectively.
The matches were hosted by GG International School recently. Teams from over 85 CBSE schools across Maharashtra and Goa participated in the tournament. The closing ceremony was marked with a traditional dance performance by the students of GGIS. The guests of honour for the event were Bhushan Thakur, table tennis champion, and Abhijit Kunte, chess grandmaster. CBSE official Deepak Mehetre and Ravi Pillai, head of the Referee Committee, were presented a memento by principal Bharti Bhagwani.
Food grains for orphans
The students of Shreemant Shivajiraje English Medium School and Junior College, Jadhavwadi, recently donated food grains to orphans for social awareness.
Under ‘Handful of food grains for the orphans', monetary and in-kind contributions were donated to orphaned children of farmers and others in need in Dhaninichi Baog, Satara. Students came to school with food grains like wheat, rice, jowar, bajra, moong and pulses.
The scouts and guides participated in the ‘Khari Kamai’ (self-earning) activity where they visited nearby houses and offered their services in cleaning, washing, sweeping, among others. They collected unds worth Rs 2,662 and five quintals of food grains. This aid was handed over to the beneficiaries by Sanjeevraje Naik Nimbalkar, president, Zilla Parishad, Satara. Principal PM Kale, vice-principal SS Phalke and supervisor Nimbalkar coordinated to make this initiative successful.
An eye checking camp was also organised by the school in collaboration with HV Desai Eye Hospital, Mohammadwadi, Pune.
CIS bags laurels in ZP games
The students from Std VIII to X of City International School, Pimpri, recently bagged laurels in the Zilla Parishad interschool sports competitions. They have now qualified for district level.

from Std VIII has been selected for CBSE national-level skating competition. Shreeyas Pawar, Aishwarya Patil, Rucha Khandagale, Neelam Pawar, Aarohi Chakravarti, Chinmay Zodage, Ritesh Bhapkar, Tanay Sangle and Pushkar Adhyapak have been selected for zonal-level in various sporting events.
